On September 16, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Ahmed Gurbanov met with a delegation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) headed by the Director of the WTO Accession Department Maika Oshikawa.

During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of intensifying cooperation in the context of Turkmenistan's accession to the WTO.

In particular, the parties considered the current steps to implement preparatory measures, including the development of the Memorandum on Foreign Trade Regime. This document will become an important basis for future negotiations and cooperation.

At the same time, the parties noted the consistent work of the Interdepartmental Governmental Commission to study issues related to WTO accession.

The participants of the meeting exchanged views on priority issues related to the prospects of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the WTO.

- improve the insurance market, insurance and reinsurance activities and bring them in line with international standards, develop mutually beneficial cooperation with leading companies and brokers in this field;

- expand partnership with international and interregional organizations, as well as with authorized standardization bodies of foreign countries;

- to prepare proposals to increase cooperation with the largest world and regional commodity exchanges;
