Shabat Border Trade Center Boosts Turnover Rates

4/15/2026

The Shabat border trade center, located on the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan border, is actively increasing its export volumes. In the early months of 2026, over 1,700 tons of Turkmen goods were delivered to Uzbekistan.

According to the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, approximately 60,000 Uzbek citizens have been registered as shoppers within the Shabat border trade zone. Additionally, since the beginning of the year, more than 250 tons of products have been imported into Turkmenistan through the facility.

Mutual trade volumes continue to grow steadily thanks to:

  • A special legal regime that provides exemption from customs duties.
  • Advanced infrastructure within the complex.

The rising turnover at the Shabat trade center highlights the successful development of regional trade and the deepening partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Context: The Shabat border trade center was commissioned in November 2025. It is specifically designed to facilitate the trade of Turkmen and Uzbek goods, ensuring an efficient exchange between the two nations.
