As part of a representative delegation, Chairperson of GS1 Turkmenistan Aykamar Malikgulyyeva visited Seoul to participate in high-level events held in conjunction with the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Korea.

On September 16, 2026, Aykamar Malikgulyyeva took part in the "Central Asia – Republic of Korea" Business Summit, which served as a vital and prestigious platform for constructive dialogue among the business communities of the participating countries.

During a special session, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed the business communities of Central Asia and South Korea, emphasizing the important role of the ongoing dialogue in developing a full-scale and long-term economic, trade, investment, and business partnership among the summit's participating nations.

The event featured discussions on geology and mineral processing, the implementation of joint energy projects (including "green" energy), the introduction of advanced South Korean technologies, the creation of multimodal transport corridors, and enhancing the region's transit potential.

One of the key topics at the special sessions held on the sidelines of the business summit was the expansion of trade and investments, a goal that is also supported by the activities of GS1 organizations. Session participants reviewed current aspects of cooperation in areas such as the simplification of trade and customs procedures, the expansion of special lending programs through South Korean financial institutions, and the construction of high-tech manufacturing facilities in Central Asian countries.

Participants in the business dialogue exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and identified promising areas for future cooperation.

The Chairperson of GS1 Turkmenistan also attended a solemn ceremony in Seoul on September 15, where President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was awarded the title of "Honorary Doctor of Political Science" by Sungkyunkwan University.

The university's Academic Council made this decision in recognition of the Turkmen leader's contributions to the development of international cooperation, the strengthening of diplomatic ties and regional security, as well as his achievements in the country's socio-economic development.

Founded in 1398, Sungkyunkwan University is one of the oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions in the Republic of Korea.
