Head of the National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes Participates in International Quality Standards Conference

An international conference titled "Quality Assurance in Accordance with International Standards in Turkmenistan" commenced on April 29, 2025, at the conference hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. The event is being attended by heads and representatives of state and private entities, international experts, and the Chairwoman of the National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes GS1 Turkmenistan, Aykamar Malikgulyyeva.
The plenary session on April 29th was opened by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Nokerguly Atagulyev. Key speakers included Miles Hansen, President of The Stirling Foundation (USA), Eric Livny, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Office in Turkmenistan, and Salih Ayvaz from the US National Accreditation Committee.
The first day's program featured two panel discussions. The first session addressed the application of international standards for the development of trade and investment activities. The second discussion focused on industry standards in the agricultural sector.
Opportunities and prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation are being discussed in detail during the following sections: "Certification in the Fuel and Energy Complex," "Food Industry," "Textile and Light Industry," "Information Technologies and Standards for Startups," and "Issues of Trade, Standards, Certification, and Accreditation in the Central Asian Region."
Among the main topics being discussed at the conference are the role of international standards in the development of trade and attracting investment, e-commerce, standards for free economic zones, and practical steps for business.
Representatives of foreign companies and international certification organizations delivered detailed presentations on cooperation with Turkmen enterprises and its positive outcomes.
Alongside the panel sessions, the Chairperson of the National Barcode Organization is participating in master classes and meetings between certification organizations taking place within the forum.
Participation in the forum provides the National Barcode Organization of Turkmenistan, GS1 Turkmenistan, with opportunities to discuss promising areas of cooperation in the field of certification and standardization of products and services of Turkmen manufacturers in accordance with international requirements, the introduction of the global multi-sector identification system and electronic communications into their activities, and, in general, the promotion of goods bearing the "Made in Turkmenistan" mark abroad.
The international conference will continue until May 1st.
